Meet the Right at Home Owner | Eduardo Penalosa

Eduardo Penalosa spent 15 years climbing the corporate ladder in Mexico City, working for a major beer distribution company. Despite his steady advancement, he felt unfulfilled and ready for a new direction. With a Master’s degree in management, he felt called to use his skills to make a more meaningful impact.

“I wanted to create something with more purpose,” says Eduardo. It wasn’t easy leaving behind a stable and well-paying corporate role, let alone leaving behind his home country.

Taking a major leap, Eduardo and his growing family relocated to San Antonio, Texas, where he opened his Right at Home office. In just his first year, he has hired 28 employees and delivered roughly 13,000 hours of care.

Why Right at Home?

Investing in Right at Home was a leap of faith for Eduardo, but he felt prepared to make this critical decision because of the support provided by corporate. Although the path to ownership came with challenges, he felt equipped to move forward.

“The people will create your company,” says Eduardo, “and all the people I have met through Right at Home are amazing – not only the corporate staff, but also the franchisees.”

Every new franchisee is paired with a RightStart coach to guide them through the process of establishing their business. Each owner also receives a comprehensive checklist outlining every task that must be completed before opening day.

Eduardo credits this structure as a key factor in his early success. “I’m very used to structure and a project plan and deadlines and that kind of thing,” he says. “So having those guidelines – it was like 400-and-something tasks that I was eager to complete.”

Advice for Prospective Franchisees

For prospective franchise owners, Eduardo stresses the importance of identifying your ‘why.’ Personally, he is motivated by a desire to show his three children that they can achieve anything they set their minds to. Professionally, he believes that improving clients’ quality of life is the most meaningful part of work.

For self-starters who are interested in making a significant impact in their community, Right at Home may be the perfect fit.

“You will find a ton of support materials from Right at Home, but you need to do it yourself. You need to be 100% in and 100% there,” says Eduardo. “It’s not an easy investment. There are moments where you may even second-guess yourself, so you need to be very patient, very resilient, and very structured.”
